Today, my speech is on Applying Biblical Principles into my Daily life.
Over the years, I have gathered a lot of knowledge about God through the Bible, Sermons, and through Bible studies
And… Knowledge is important, but it is only the start of the Christian Life.
What really matters, is that you Apply what you Learn to your life, to live out God’s words.
But the thing is, I find that applying Biblical Principles to my daily life is very difficult,
In fact, sometimes some of us don’t even know where to start.
The good thing is that Micah 6:8 tells us, saying, “He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? But to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God.”
The Bible tells us to act justly, this can be done by doing things right and living according to Justice. Now, this is easy to say, but treating others properly, telling the truth, and confessing my sins, can all be very hard. And I am doing my best to implement this into my life, but the problem is that I just don’t have the self-control to do it. For example, my parents have set a no gaming rule in my house, the reason being that I get addicted if I start playing video games. But I find this rule hard to keep, and although most of the time I control myself and not play. I occasionally let in and play some games. This has let me realize that I really am a sinner and that I need God in my life. Therefore, I have to trust in God and pray. To acknowledge my wrongs and to ask God to help me. And not only that, but I have to repent of my sins and stop. As C. S. Lewis said, “A sum can be put right: but only by going back till you find the error and working it afresh from that point, never by simply going on. Evil can be undone, but it cannot ‘develop’ into good. Time does not heal it.”
The second thing God requires of us is that we love kindness and mercy. That we put others before ourselves, see money as ways to Bless others, forgive others, and also that we love our neighbours as ourselves. But the problem is, certain people I know I find hard to even tolerate, much less forgive.
All this leads me to an awareness that I haven’t been loving mercy or kindness, and that I really am self-centred in areas like these. But, loving-kindness should be the way I live, for doing so will give me Eternal life, and treasures in heaven, which are far greater than material possessions here on earth. Therefore it is one of my new year’s resolutions to love kindness and mercy.
The last point offered was that we should walk humbly with the Lord our God. You see, God gives us the gift of learning and also gives everyone certain talents. And I believe that learning is Important, allowing us to achieve great things. But we have to be careful to stay humble. And not only should we be humble, but we should also do our best to use our talents in the right way. To use what God has given us to further his Kingdom. Therefore, as a Christian Student, I find it important that I study hard, and that I work hard in whatever I do, All for the glory of God, as taken from 1 Cor 10:31.
Throughout this journey, I learned that I really am a sinner and that it is impossible for us to overcome Satan’s temptations without God to help us. That we Need God in our lives. I believe that the mindset that all Christians have to take is that we should do Justice, Love Kindness, and walk humbly with the Lord Our God. That we should become a Good and Faithful Servant. I have just started this Journey, but you can do this too, to apply what you learn to your life, whether it be through reading the bible, listening to a sermon, or even through your buddies. Micah 6:8 is a great verse that is repeated through the scripture multiple times, and gives us valuable information on how we should live our lives.
So why don’t you Apply What YOU learn in your life?
Thanks for Listening
